Lattice is one of the best-known names in performance management, and for some companies it's the right choice. This page explains (with sources) where each tool fits, so you can make the call in one read instead of four demos.
*Last updated: August 2026. Lattice pricing and policies referenced from public sources; links below.
Choose Lattice if you're 500+ employees with a multi-person HR team, you want compensation management and HRIS features in the same suite, and you have enterprise budget, roughly $11 per employee/month base, plus add-on modules, with a $4,000/year minimum on annual contracts.
Choose TeamMaven if you're a 100–500 person company with a lean People team that needs professional reviews, goals, surveys, and growth plans; without the modules you won't use. €2–4 per employee/month, transparent pricing, monthly or annual billing, and all data hosted and processed in the EU.
We'd rather you hear this from us than discover it later:
Breadth of suite. Lattice has expanded into HRIS, payroll (US), and compensation management. If you want performance + comp cycles + HR records in one vendor, Lattice offers that; TeamMaven deliberately doesn't.
Brand and ecosystem. Lattice has a large template library, community, and events programme. There's real value in that ecosystem if your team will use it.
Enterprise configurability. For complex org structures with layered approval chains and deep integration requirements, Lattice's configurability runs deeper.
If that's what your organisation needs, Lattice is a good product and you should buy it.
1. What will you actually use?
Lattice's depth is priced in whether you use it or not. Mid-sized companies typically deploy reviews, goals, and engagement surveys; and leave the rest idle. TeamMaven covers that actually-used core: flexible review rounds (manager check-ins to full 360s), HR calibration with audit trails, goals/OKRs, engagement and pulse surveys, recognition, growth plans, and a competency framework. What we don't build: compensation management, payroll, HRIS. We integrate with your HRIS instead of trying to replace it.
2. What does it really cost?
A worked example — 250 employees, reviews plus surveys:
Lattice: ~$11 + $4 = ~$15 per employee/month → ~$45,000/year (before negotiation)*
TeamMaven Advanced: €4 per employee/month → €12,000/year
*Lattice figures from public pricing research and Lattice's published minimums, as of August 2026; actual quotes vary and are negotiable.
3. Where does your people data actually live and get processed?
Both companies will sign a DPA. The difference is architecture:
Lattice offers EU data hosting (on AWS) but by Lattice's own privacy FAQ, data is transferred outside the EU for processing by Lattice and its subprocessors, EU hosting is available to new customers only, and several core subprocessors (messaging, CDN, monitoring, support tooling) are US-located. That's a lawful, standard setup for a US company; it relies on GDPR transfer mechanisms.
TeamMaven is EU-built and EU-operated: data is hosted and processed in the EU, including AI inference (Azure OpenAI Service, EU region; never sent to OpenAI, never used for model training). Sub-processors are published, and privacy is enforced in the product itself: survey results only ever display with a minimum of five responses per group, sensitive demographic fields are off by default with an audit trail, and review visibility is controlled per cycle.
If your DPO's first question is "does the data leave the EU?", the two answers are different in kind, not degree. Ours is on one page: TeamMaven Trust Centre.
TeamMaven implementations don't have an "implementation phase" in the enterprise sense. The typical sequence: import your people (CSV or HRIS sync), configure your first review round or survey with our defaults, and run it. Most customers run their first cycle within two weeks of signing.
You'll also notice the support difference. TeamMaven is founder-led: questions are answered by the person who built the product, usually same-day. That's not a scaled CS org with tiers and SLAs; deliberately. At our size, it means faster, straighter answers.
Is TeamMaven a good Lattice alternative?
For 100–500 person companies that need reviews, goals, surveys, and growth plans, yes, that's the segment TeamMaven is built for. Companies wanting compensation management or an all-in-one HRIS suite are better served by Lattice.
How much cheaper is TeamMaven than Lattice?
TeamMaven costs €2–4 per employee/month with a 30-employee minimum. Lattice's base Performance module is around $11 per employee/month with a $4,000 annual minimum, before add-ons. For a 250-person company using reviews and surveys, that's roughly €12,000/year vs ~$45,000/year at list prices.
Why is TeamMaven so much cheaper than Lattice?
Focused scope and a different business model. We build the modules mid-sized companies actually use and skip the enterprise suite (compensation, payroll, HRIS). We also sell self-service with public pricing rather than through a quota-carrying sales organisation and that cost difference goes into the price.
Is Lattice GDPR-compliant?
Lattice offers GDPR compliance through data processing agreements and transfer mechanisms, and offers EU data hosting for new customers. Per Lattice's own documentation, data is still transferred outside the EU for processing. TeamMaven hosts and processes all data, including AI features, within the EU.
Does TeamMaven do compensation management or payroll?
No, by design. TeamMaven integrates with your HRIS rather than replacing it, and focuses on performance, engagement, and growth.
Can I try TeamMaven without a sales call?
Yes, pricing is public and plans start self-service at €2 per employee/month, billed monthly or annually. Or book a live demo with the founder.
